The Field of Laboratories "Designing"

Laboratories ‘designing requires a comprehensive understanding of the type of equipment and the nature of the required work. It includes determining the type and nature of the laboratory and the type of tests that will be conducted in it, considering the width of the working area to be sufficient to divide the work into a group of areas in order to achieve safety and health in the work environment.

Laboratories’ designing also includes many factors that must be considered; including the raw material requirements, therefore the materials, used in establishing walls, floors, other surfaces and storage areas, must be planned in accordance with the tasks that should be performed within the building, the followed regulations in this Field and financial capabilities. This is achieved through preparing an integrated file including the basic requirements to design and implement the laboratory as follows:

  1. Listing the standard and analytic specifications and classifying the applications required for the laboratory according to the nature of the laboratory work.
    • Specifications of chemical laboratory devices include many factors such as size, shape, and materials used in manufacturing, which differ according to the type of laboratory and the nature of the tests that will be conducted in it. They must comply with the international standards of safety and quality.
  2. Defining the specifications of the required devices according to the capabilities of the laboratory.
    • The infrastructure of chemical laboratories includes many factors such as size, shape, and materials used in manufacturing which differ according to the type of laboratory and the nature of its work. The design of the laboratory infrastructure also includes several elements such as designing lighting, doors and movement lines inside the laboratory.
  3. Specifications of the infrastructure and gas chambers of the factory according to the work fields.
    • The safety procedures inside the laboratory includes many factors such as adherence to the instructions related to the safety systems in the laboratories, full commitment to using the appropriate personal protective equipment and ensuring that they are cleaned and maintained, as well as the means of storing hazardous materials and the availability of protection systems against fire and ventilation systems for disposal of volatile gases, in addition to the method of safe disposal of the hazardous waste.
